George Miller
Congressman George Miller is a lifelong resident of Contra Costa County and a recognized leader on education, labor, and the environment. He has a long record of legislative achievements that have helped create good jobs, make college more affordable, improve public schools, and protect the environment. He has fought against insurance companies and won -- to make health care more affordable and accessible. He helped restore accountability at big banks and credit card companies on behalf of consumers. He fought for and won an increase in the federal minimum wage in 2005, the first federal increase in 10 years. And he works hard every day to enact public policies that protect the taxpayer. George was an early opponent of the war in Iraq and has continuously pressed for an early withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. He fought for, and won, protections of the Bay Delta to ensure its long-term survival and to guarantee equitable sharing of California’s precious fresh water supplies. George is married, has two sons and six grandchildren. He now represents mosts of Contra Costa County in California's newly redrawn 11th congressional district, including Alamo, part of Antioch, Blackhawk-Camino Tassajara, Concord, Danville, El Cerrito, Kensington, Lafayette, Martinez south of Highway 4, Moraga, Orinda, Pittsburg, Pleasant Hill, Richmond, and San Pablo.
